Hi Beth, Just thought you might like to see how Dandy, formerly Stubby has progressed since we picked her up in Pennsylvania on the 4th of July, after her long trip from West Virginia. She is doing marvelously well. She has her two buddies here. Seal, who is a 7 1/2 year old Weimeraner/Lab mix has been with us since Dec. 1997 is a whopping 92 lbs. and is the Grande Dame of the group. Bitz came to live with us on March 27 this year and is a 31.6 lb. Dachshund/Lab mix. He was only 8 months old and 22 lbs. when we got him and is now 16 months old. He is Dandy's particular buddy. They are very evenly matched in size as Dandy now weighs in at 31.6 lbs. also. We were amazed that they were exactly the same weight when they went to the vet a couple of weeks ago. They play in the yard and the house constantly which is great exercise for both of them. Dandy is a regular lap dog and is in such great condition now, it's hard to believe. When she arrived here she had a bald spot on the front of her chest with scabs. Her pads were in terrible condition...all hard and cracked. Her coat was coarse and dull and she had a million fleas. She also kept her ears back and was wary of us. The wariness lasted about two days! She is now gorgeous. Her listing said that she was an Aussie mix, but after observing her for these past 4 1/2 months, we've come to the conclusion that she is a Jack Russell Terrier Mix. She has all the traits of a Jack Russell, only she is larger. She is very energetic, tenatious, and is now fearless. The scabs on her chest have cleared up, her coat has grown back in and she is soft and smooth to the touch....and she does love to be touched and petted and snuggled. Her front pads are now in good condition, but we are still working on the pads on her back feet. We regularly rug Bag Balm into her pads. Also, she keeps her ears perked up most of the time as you'll see in one of the attached photos. She's a very alert dog!! She resembles the RCA Victor dog, Nipper, from the old commercials. Hope your Thanksgiving was a nice one, and that you enjoy the holiday season. Happy Holidays Meg & Bill |
