Baxter was another wonderful dog scheduled to be put to sleep the same morning as Daisy and Tulip. Instead, he was brought to a vet in Georgia where he received his shots and heartworm test, and enjoyed the company of the vet techs until the transport van was ready to leave the next week. Then he arrived in NJ, and he went to his foster mom's home, a wonderful young woman named Wendy. Wendy took great care of Baxter, and got to know him very well. Thanks to Wendy's personal attention, we were able to recommend Baxter to an adopter who had considered adopting Daisy and Tulip, but wasn't ready to adopt 2 dogs. Then Kevin and his fiance Danielle visited Baxter and fell in love with him. His gentleness and sweetness won them over, and Baxter went to his new home on January 1, 2003. Baxter is pictured here with his new family, while taking a walk in the wonderful woods of Mills Reservation! |
